Karen

Karen is an emerging Hmong-American dancer and choreographer born and raised in Minnesota. She has been teaching dance since January of 2018 (Cypher Side was her first official teaching job). Throughout her journey with dance, her movement has been shaped and influenced by multiple styles. She draws a lot of inspiration from styles such as Hip Hop, House, and Waacking. Her own personal style consists of a lot of groove and flow. In the past two years, Karen has taken on jobs as a dance instructor for both kids and adults at Cypher Side Dance School, Straightline Dance Fitness, Klass MPLS, and The Workroom. She has also had the honor of participating in and choreographing for many great dance productions such as I’M FROM Vol.2, Mixtape: Side B, MP3 (Mixtape 3), and Abandoned Outlines: Part 2. Currently she is also working as an adjunct professor of dance at St. Olaf College teaching Hip Hop. In her free time, you can probably find her curled up on the couch with her dog playing Zelda or Harvest Moon.
